Back in office since 2020 - advice for preventing illness

Hi I’m a pre-licensed therapist, been seeing clients in person for about 14 months. I mask in all my in-person sessions and I don’t live in a place where masking is common. I have a little spiel I say in the first session ("I want to acknowledge my respirator mask. This is something I wear to keep m

I work next to an asphalt plant that spews out dust and fumes, is there anything I could do?

Do you have air purifiers in your office? You can also monitor air quality and gather data so you have something if you need to take it further. It won't be doing your health any favours that's for sure. https://www.ohsrep.org.au/asphalt_and_bitument_fumes Personally I'd wear an N95 respirator when ou

In Wisconsin and can’t breathe

Your best bet is the AirFanta 3Pro. It doesn't cover 800 SQ feet, more like 600 SQ ft when on high.Another option is to make your own. Box fan with furnace filters. Look up Corsi Rosenthal box. In the meantime, if you have N95 Masks, wear one.

You are probably going to get the flu. Here is what I wish I had done to prepare.

Wearing masks once you get sick to reduce the spread is great, but wearing masks ahead of time to avoid catching it in the first place is even better. For things like shopping, doctor appointments, and school/work, masks help stop the germ spread. Another great way to reduce spread within the home i

best (budget friendly) air purifier?

For pretty close to that price range (assuming USD), the AirFanta 3Pro is by far the best bang for the buck you'll find. Barely over 1 sqft footprint and over 700m3/h CADR. It's basically a pre-built CR box kit, but looks a lot less janky than some filers and duct tape.

I think there is a design flaw concerning CR boxes with multiple PC fans

From Wikipedia, a 5-filter standard C-R box has a CADR of 650-800 CFM depending on speed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsi%E2%80%93Rosenthal_Box The Air Fanta 3Pro, which uses 4 PC fans claims a CADR of 436 CFM when overvolted a bit to 13 V. https://air-fanta.com/products/airfanta-3pro So, you're

Best air purifier for dust you've bought that made you notice the difference?

Look for a HEPA air cleaner that's the appropriate size for the space. You might want a few throughout the apartment depending on its size. Don't choose anything that says "ionizer" (scammy/unhelpful/possibly harmful). Alternatively you can make excellent air cleaners DIY-style with box fans, furnac

How are people with asthma coping?

I don't have asthma, but I do have alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, so air pollution affects me more (the damage is permanent and cumulative). We have three air purifiers in the house; a small one in my daughter's room (as her door is always closed), and larger ones in my bedroom and the living room

Pet owners… what’s the best air purifier you’ve actually kept long term?

AirFanta 3Pro. Nothing else comes anywhere close to the CADR for the price and it's not even that expensive.
