Controller recommendations for a total newbie?
I mostly use the 8bitdo m30 controller. Good latency, sega layout, and works well for a lot of arcade games. Less ideal for ps1 and snes. If you're looking for a number of options it is a great versatile addition.

Time for some controller testing
The 8Bitdo M30 is the best, but make sure to not use the Bluetooth version. Use the Genesis version and either use it wired over USB for 1 millisecond input lag or use the wireless Genesis version with a Daemonbite Genesis to USB converter for its wireless dongle for 4 milliseconds input lag. 4ms fo

Is the Xbox Series X/S controller good for SF6?
The Xbox series controller is fine, imo. Its dpad position isn't ideal but the dpad itself is alright imo, clicky and seems to register well. Where it might fall a little short is if you play classic controls. Modern controls is generally fine on it but I personally don't like the trigger buttons. B

6 button pad
8bitdo M30 controller design is the best for games that don’t need analog sticks, which covers most 8-bit and 16-bit games, as well as many 32-bit games. It comes in two variants: Genesis wireless dongle version and Bluetooth version. Both variants can be wired using USB for low lag, but only the Ge

Looking for a fightpad. I keep hearing the Hori Fighting Commander 4 is the absolute best, but why did nobody copy it?
The 8bitdo M30 is the only controller I will use for FGs. There are 3 versions. https://www.8bitdo.com/m30-wired-controller-xbox works with Xbox and has two extra L R buttons. Requires Windows to update firmware https://www.8bitdo.com/m30 Works with Switch 1/2. Has Bluetooth as well. Can update with

how many joystick/controllers do you go through?
I had it for a little under a year and if you asked me the day before yesterday I would of recommended it whole heartly because it feels and works exactly like the original and I notice it improved my performance compared to anything else I used especially anything that benefited from perfect diagon

Discontinued 8bitdo SNK Controller back in Stock on Amazon
I've got one and it's nice. It's USB polling rate is 100hz. I mostly bought it just to have it. I use the 8bitdo M30 2.4G as my main retro/arcade controller. Best Dpad ever and USB 250hz polling.

Best D-pad for fighting games?
As an ex melee player, I actually find a notched analog stick to be more precise than something like the dualsense's dpad (though I'd never recommend it to anyone because my case is different lmao). Only pad that comes close is the 8bitdo M30. Leverless still clears all in terms of precision, though

Is an Xbox controller recommended for this game? I can't do basic stuff consistently
8bitdo M30 Xbox version is the best pad I have used, perfect for SF6. I am way more consistent with inputs since switching over from a series X controller.
