C545

The most common recommendation is the one that Costco has sold for years, the Winix C545. They put it on sale for $100 multiple times per year and sell the replacement filters for cheap. I have it and it’s great. Quiet, has smartphone controls, looks nice, etc.

I’ve had a winix 5500-2 for like 6+ years now. Had a c545 start making a lot of bearing noise around 5 years. But it was a cheap refurbished unit.

I purchased a used one once online because mine had died and I had a bunch of replacement filters. (It had been discontinued and I couldn't get a new one) It came caked in nicotine inside and out. Get an air purifier- a loud one. It’ll drown them out. You’ll get used to the ‘white noise’. Winix C545 is a decent model.

I can 2nd this. I actually went through 11 units (purchased 5...rest were warranty units) and all failed. I still have 1 unopened replacement unit and can't be bothered to set it up. I replaced all of mine with refurbished Winix C545 units over 2 years ago and couldn't be happier with that decision.

Winix America has the C545 refurbished $59.99. I've purchased these, they always come with new sealed filters and are like new. Never had a single one I'd say looked used. So you prefaced 1,400 square feet as "Room Volume". I assume this is still square feet and not 1,400 cubic feet, the latter actually being volume. i did a TON of research a couple days ago about this. i settled on a used/refurbished winix c545 for $60, but the filters are lowk kind of expensive. they sell them in a pack with 4 carbon filters for odors that you switch every 3 months for odors and a filter that lasts a year for $50, which isn’t
