In 2023 there was a surplus of SSDs and were very cheap. Took advantage to buy a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB for around $60. It isn't available anymore, but I bet it'll cost over $200 if it was today. AI ruined everything.

Back in early 2023, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB drives were going for under $30. Should’ve bought hundreds.

Some 970 Evo Plus'es used flawed Samsung V6 NAND flash memory which were susceptible to the "0E" issue. The "0E" SMART ID having a non-zero value and your SSD being put in read-only mode undoubtedly confirms it.

Never had an issue with Samsung SSDs. 850 EVO, 870 EVO, 970 EVO. My Silicon Power A55 (I call it ASS) sometimes and randomly refuses to be recognized. I have to wait and then restart and then it'll fix itself. Scary stuff that's why I just store less important stuff on this.

Did you ever update the firmware on these? Samsung 900 EVO and the 900 EVO Pro series are known to kill themselves. They're most common the Pro models and the most common with the 990 and 980, but still happen to the 970 models. My guess what causes the problem is that Samsung pushes the SSD chips t

I'm still stuck on PCIe 3 with two Samsung 970 Evo plus. I write stuck, but honestly the SSD speed isn't bottlenecking anything. Maybe if prices where normal, an upgrade would be an option, but there's so little pain using PCIe 3, I'm not even willing to upgrade to PCIe 4

NHD15 is not a good cooler for the price, its very close in perf to a $30 peerless assassin. You could change the gpu to a 5080 or 4080sI would change AIO to a galahad ii trinity 360mm perf as its the best perf (arctic 3 is quieter but max cooling is less) The 990 pro is honestly overkill, a 990 evo

I read that a lot, but my Samsung 970 EVO 1TB still has only 1% wearout, it's running for about 3 years now. Are only cheap drives affected with low TBW?

I have a complete Arr stack, Jellyfin, qbit, cross-seed, etc. (13 containers in total) running on the stock 8gb that came with my Pro and it’s sitting at 3gb ram used. Absolutely no issues watching Jellyfin content. Definitely get a cheap 256gb NVMe for an applications drive. Nothing fancy since the
