grigri + tube per person or 'per team'

Why bring a Grigri at all? A tube each for everyone and that’s it. You could ditch even that and just use a Munter hitch, though handling isn’t as nice so I only do it if I somehow end up without the tube. I also prefer every member having a small backpack (e.g. Petzl Bug). Just big enough for a dri

What happened to my belaying?

"Isn’t that a great way to get slammed into the wall which could injure the belayer and potentially hit the Grigri in just the right spot to disable it?" Yes, to a certain degree. Practically, not so much. You're belaying someone on top rope, so the forces are already way lower. Your weight is also

GriGri vs. ClickUp: Why does the GriGri remain the default for beginners when the ClickUp feels more intuitive to me?

Grigris are more versatile, especially for multipitch and self-rescue situations. Grigris can belay directly off the anchors, be used for a haul, rappel, or ascend a rope. The CT Clickup can’t belay off anchors and can’t as easily ascend a rope if you rappel past anchors or need to rescue a leader.

Mast climbing with a GriGri

Self belaying is not an approved use of a grigri. There are some climbers that go against the recommendation, but they know the techniques and equipment well enough that they wouldn't have had to ask your question years before they do it. Don't kill yourself with a grigri. Petzl makes equipment for

did I get scammed?

Looks like a GriGri, is packaged like a GriGri. Sold by Petzl. If it also tastes like a GriGri you should be good to go. Like others said checking the serial number should be the ultimate confirmation, but this looks completely fine.

Grigri question

Yup, this exactly my gym. Because we climb early on weekdays, often the employees outnumber climbers and the employees are struggling for reasons to look useful, so they interfere with weird feedback that’s not always correct. Also, I’m left handed and the Petzl grigri video for lefties shows you ca

Grigri purchase

I mean…. They changed the geometry a bit and the new ones have a wider and slightly different range of ropes they are designed to accept. I seem to recall the old ones being grippier but it might just be that we all had thicker ropes back then. I see zero reason to think the grigri 1 is not perfectl

New Viper Ice Tools from BD

That they lied about their beacon problem and people died. And then they lied some more. Then they waited until they got a class action lawsuit against them before they issued a recall. Then their next line of beacons also failed. Then their next line also failed. Every company has recalls. The diff
