Mini PC for high performance 4k Video editing

First, APUs akin to the 8745HS/8745H/Ryzen 7 H 255 are little more than a defective 8845HS/Ryzen 7 260 dies with the XDNA NPU disabled, sold on the Chinese market @ a significant discount for AMD to avoid e-waste from wafer fabrication. These APUs are not officially acknowledged by AMD or currently

Mini PC as a Laptop Replacement

Be aware Nvidia ≠ Linux distros. Nvidia has gone out of its way to not provide open source drivers for CUDA. Every promise. Broken. I've tried Pop!_OS and more recently Cachy but they only make the driver issues "more tolerable". The AMD Radeon support community has made more contributions to Linux

My review for the Aoostar AG03 Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock.

Agree. This may explain why my GMKtec K11’s USB4 port performs so well with all my eGPU’s. “The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS features native, dual-port USB4 controller support built directly into the processor.”

Repaste your brand new MiniPCs!

Google Gemini says Ryzen 8000/9000 series mini pc's like my Gmktec K11 ship with liquid metal as the thermal paste. Is this true? This scares me. Do not want to get it on the motherboard when removing it.

Looking for mini-pc for retro emulation up to GameCube or even PS2

Nothing in particular. The M6 Ultra is built on a much older/dated DDR4/PCIe 3.0 platform GMKtec squeezed higher heat DDR5/PCIe 4.0 technology into. The people I know who own a M6 tend to complain about thermals and the noisy 40mm case fan. GMKtec abandoned the design for the larger M7/K8 Plus/K11 p

Help me pick between these two options for a casual gaming mini PC.

I have a monster SFF PC at home but I like having these little guys around for when I just wanna "chuck it in a backpack and go somewhere." 780m outperforms my steam deck by a noticeable margin and you can connect a USB C monitor with a single cable and play some shit with only that USB-C cable and

Why does the official website say Rog Ally X is not compatible but plenty of users say it works?

I don’t have one to test with. The Xbox version has a USB4 port so it should work. My son was leaning towards a legion go 2 so we may never have one. It does work well on my GMKtec K11, which also has a USB4 port.

Aoostar Maco fan [teardown]

Dang it is ribbon 🫪 and why on earth you don’t put PTM 🫪 I got rattling noise on my GMKtec K11 and I used WD40 first time but it started again so second time I put some thick lubricant and sprayed WD40 over it to help it spread now it is pretty silent.
