“A rival Windows laptop like the Dell XPS 13 uses about 70 percent of its memory just sitting idle on the desktop.” Lmao

Dell released their wildcat lake laptop today. Xps13. Nearly half the price. Similar features. 120hz. Touchscreen. Except it has Linux support. Framework was already expensive. This makes the framework look like the budget option.

Let's also not forget the first 7 years of the XPS 13, it had that ridiculous webcam around the bottom of the screen pointing upwards like a nostril cam.

Battery life is mostly a platform property. You need to get all your ducks in a row from the low-level hardware all the way to applications. Hardware design choices by the manufacturer matter, and firmware is important too. In the end, with some laptops you get awesome power efficiency under Linux o

Wipe it, and install Windows 11 IoT LTSC. Never use the image that comes with the laptop. I’ve got the current XPS 13 9350 and this easily lasts me multiple days before I have to charge. In a day, I can keep going with ease.

Our 1000 Dell XPS 13 + with their failure rate of 14% in the first 3 months and a further 6% in the next 9 months begs to differ. We literally had a Dell tech in our office more than our actual IT staff. Just a total poo storm. Dell offered us a partial refund to try and keep our business going forw

I have briefly tried a Lunar Lake laptop (Dell XPS 13) and it did not feel as snappy for my workflow. PTL laptops are too expensive right now for what they offer.

I missed out on the first Framework by about a year thanks to my cat dropping water onto my MPB. Ended up with an XPS 13. 32GB ram and a 512GB SSD was good back then, and still good now, but my battery is below 70% life, I'm sick of the maglev keyboard, the stupid carbon fibre on the palm rests is g

computers are more powerful than smartphones... so trying to shop below the price bracket will likely yield junk. that being said, microcenter does still have a fair selection of refurbs that are under $500 if you don't want a new $400 macbook neo or $500 dell xps 13... but you might as well just ge

Given that the FW13 has 4 flexible ports (and FW16 even 6) I don't see much point. USB-A is becoming obsolete. A lot of peripherals are Bluetooth connected anyway. I was mostly fine with the just 2 USB-C ports of a XPS-13 before. The 4 interchangeable ones in FW13 are already luxury. Especially as I
