Just here to suggest the Yoto player. It’s been a hit from 5-8. My 12 year old likes it too, but the books for her age are limited, so she typically uses Libby or Sora instead.

At that age, I would do a Yoto mini instead of a tonie if you are going to do a kids audio player— mostly because it is way easy to travel with and the cards are way easier to store. Honestly, I really don’t think screen time rules apply when you have a kid who needs distracting for medical reasons, spend time watching with her and talk to her about the show, engage with it too and that will help.
