Aside from cassette tapes and CDs, what's the best solution to allow my kid to listen to like 10 songs I know he loves that's easy for him to manage and not connected to the internet? He's 5.

Get a Yoto player and then ‘make your own card’ with the songs you want. Then he can play that card. Won’t need the internet

Yoto player vs Tonie

The Yoto is so much better. The Tonie figurines become toys and often get separated from the unit. I also didn't love the content. Yoto has a better app and more content that will grow with your kid. The make your own cards are easy to do and fun. Yoto is almost more portable (I wouldn't bother with

Tonie box.. what's the point?

The Yoto is a cheaper option because you can just buy a pack of $20 blank cards and write over them indefinitely. It’s similar to my childhood fisher price cassette player in a way.

What are you buying your toddlers this Christmas?

I prefer yoto player because I can actually use the dials to find specific songs. It also requires a very hard slap to change songs and Tonies are expensive

Not Daniel Tiger—but a conspiracy nonetheless

Yoto player. Like a portable speaker that uses cards to tell it what songs or books to play. Similar to a Tonie. You can also lock the max volume through an app. Which can make it much safer to little ears, and adult sanity

What are you buying your toddlers this Christmas?

We went with Yoto, too. I kinda hate the slap mechanism of the Tonies - I don’t want my kid hitting other electronics ‘cause he thinks that’s how they work 😂 Plus I know he’d want to play with all the Tonies figurines and we’d end up losing them, whereas the Yoto cards aren’t particularly exciting o

Four year old won’t stay in bed

Yoto player solved this issue for us. She just pops in a card, we can set limit volume limits via the app, and she's happy to listen to a calm audiobook or quiet music until she falls asleep. She can change the track or change the card if she wants to. If she wakes up in the night she doesn't come a

Fellow techy dads: how does the tony box work?

check out the Yoto player, it is essentially the same idea, but with cards instead of figurines. you can make your own cards and load of things you record yourself, or download from YT. maybe having a bunch of figurines is more fun, but it also seems like it will be a big mess, easier to lose, harde

Tonie vs Tonie 2

We went for a yoto in the end: https://uk.yotoplay.com/ similar idea but they use cards rather than figures. No experience with the Tonie so hard to compare but the yoto has been great for us. You can make your own cards, there's a bunch of free content from pod casts and you can play any of the car

Which of LAST year’s holiday gifts are your kids still loving?

I can't recommend YOTO players enough. I debated between that and a Tonie box and I'm so glad I went with YOTO. The ability to play any of the YOTO cards in the car via the app on my phone is awesome.
