You can try to peal it up and put a spot of crazy glue but, truth, I ran into the same issue, tried the glue and one spot was great, then other not so good. I always sucked at controller and always get messed up on the abxy buttons. 4 grip/back buttons completely fixed it and now i can actually okay controller games! The elite series 2 is also meant for PC gaming. If it still works well, no missed presses or double-presses like mine has developed, continue using it. And since the elite is an xbox controller with xinput, it is far more directly compatible with games than the steam controller.
