Tractive or Fi dog trackers? Pros and cons?

Tractive pros and cons: Better international coverage if you travel, works just as well in rural and no coverage areas. More affordable monthly subscription, exact prices depends on the plan you pick, cheapest is I think 5 or 6 bucks a month Health monitoring included at base price Updates much fast

i’m thinking of getting a dog tracker but i don’t know if it’s a good idea

I think it would be helpful to research reasonable expectations for a GPS tracker. For example, with Tractive (and many others), your home wifi may be set up as a power-saving zone. Great for battery life and makes sense, because you don't need it pinging all the time when your pet is at home, right

Tractive 6 experience?

I have 2 dogs and they both have a tractive 6. I’ve attached it on the handle of his collar, as this collar is too wide, but it fits perfectly fine with his normal sized collar. The positives: It’s accurate, the battery lasts about a week with walks, super quick notifications when they leave the bou

More Cat 6 Mini Shenanigans

It’s hard to say. I’ve tried quite a few trackers over the years, from well-known brands like Kippy to cheaper Chinese models, and they all seem to have the same trade-offs: they're either too bulky, unreliable, or expensive. Each one has its shortcomings, but so far Tractive has been the one that h

Anyone else have constant anxiety about their dog getting out?

I have a very clingy Velcro dog who i cannot imagine running off, but I got a Tractive Smart dog GPS tracker to try it out for hiking as a safety backup feature because I want her to have the freedom to roam in areas where being only a short distance apart means losing visual contact because of tree

cat 6 mini tracking

This is why I love the sound option on the Tractive collar. Even though the GPS isn’t super accurate, you can turn on the noise and at night time you can turn on the light too to help pinpoint your buddy. I only wish the noise was louder.

Tracking

Yeah, your post in r/pets is going to be flooding with people telling you to keep your cat inside. Tractive isn’t perfect, but it’s probably one of your best options as long as you have some degree of cellular LTE coverage. You’ll get some interference from the trees/forest, but so will any GPS trac

Dog ran away today. Do I want a Fi, or…?

I would buy it someplace with good returns, I tried it for a week or two and just didn't have the service where I was for it to be effective, I'm in a real / suburban area. I ordered it from Costco which was great with the return. I use tractive instead which is faster to alert and locate my dog (ha

Has anyone had any experience using Tractive? What are the pros and cons in your opinion?

Yes! I bought it almost immediately after my post above and have been using it everyday. I got the cat mini. I've had no problems so far. It has connection 99.9% of the time. Only during really bad weather like a storm did I find some issues. I charge when it's around 50% so I don't worry about losi
