UNAS 2 just dropped?

These will replace the dozens of DS224+ models we have when they die, or Synology loses its mind and forces their drives to be used.

Plex streams fine but the libraries take forever to load on every device, any advice on how to fix?

i always kept the plex data folder on a ssd and currently a NVMe drive now and never really saw any lag for the interface or when opening the media compared to when it was installed on spinning drives. Try doing a database clean up and increasing the DB cache size a little (Mine is currently at 256)

If you are Weighing up the DXP4800 PRO vs DXP4800 PLUS - Save Your Money

I moved from a DS224+ to a UGREEN 4800 Plus. I'm very happy with the move. I know there is some software from Synology that you might miss, but to be honest I never used anything from them aside of DSM.I don't like propietary software, specially when it comes from Synology. I don't trust them at all

[System Agnostic] Foundry VTT on a Synology DS423+

I’ve run it on a DS224+ with only 4GB of RAM and it ran fine. The server has very little demand for computing power. It’s the clients (via a web browser) that needs the “oomph”. I wasn’t a savvy Docker user back then and had some trouble getting a network volume to mount to that Docker Container, so

NAS Suggestion

I guess it depends on your problem space. I don't want/need another photo browser. I use iCloud / Apple Photos for that. I just want a reliable backup of my (family's) photos in an automated fashion, and for that, PhotoSync is more than enough. I don't see any situation in the future where I would b

Is Synology still the best choice if you want something that just works?

I personally am not an expert , but can mostly follow YT tutorials to get things working . I bought a DS220j as my first NAS in 2021. At the time it was to setup a doorbell with surveillance... I used it for 3 or 4 months and it worked well. I then got a dedicated DVR system setup and packed the NAS

Apple photos vs Synology Photos

Thanks for the update. I doubt the problems on the Mac are caused by the app as much as Finder doing Finder things. I frequently find that Finder has decided to unmount my shares during sleep, despite the laptop never having moved out of WiFi range (or at all). Even autofs couldn’t produce a reliabl

trying to figure out the best cloud storage for 2026, what do you actually use?

I avoid Synology Drive. I had an idea, where I’d separate my media from my backups, so I purchased a DS224+, populated it with 2x6TB Synology HAT-3300 drives (priced similarly to WD Red Plus at the time), and setup the NAS with Synology Drive, Synology Photos and HyperBackup. After setting up snapsh

trying to figure out the best cloud storage for 2026, what do you actually use?

I don’t mind slow backups either, as long as they finish reliably before the machine needs to be used again. Synology Drive (and Photos) leave a lot to be desired. They work, but it’s a bare minimum. The only thing that could possibly get me to reconsider setting up the DS224+ again is for file shar

What do you run Plex on?

currently running on a synology DS224+ but contemplating getting a M1 mac mini and having it run sonarr etc as well as plex all from a SSD to reduce the amount of HDD activity on the synology box, as i apparently purchased the loudest hard drives known to man. I made the mistake of using the on boar
