Starting from scratch

I have two friends, one with an Ender 3, about the cheapest 3d printer imaginable, that he bought used at a garage sale for $30. My other friend has a PrusaXL fully kitted out, north of $4k all in. They both print 3D2A just fine. 3D printing, for any purpose, really does scale with how much effort y

Is 3D printing expensive ?

Hey, new cosplayer here too. Everyone's budget is different but if you are thinking of cosplay, a 3d printer is a must. Don't go ultra cheap and consider the size before buying. These days I would recommend: Bambu P2S (or P1S if initial budget is a concern) I don't like Bambulab as a company, but th

Calling all Bambu X2D/H2D/H2C owners:

I won’t speak to the AGPL issue since that has been discussed at length and I have nothing further to add. But I can say that I currently own an H2C, Qidi Max 4, Qidi Plus 4, and Bambu P1S so I’ll offer my insights on the machines themselves. I can honestly say that the H2C isn’t worth the price in

Which one should i go for (first printer) and which brand is actually more trustworthy?

How technology savvy are you? The Bambu ecosystem is fairly fool-proof, but the P1S and P2S have some compromises that others do not. If you’re at somewhat technically capable and willing, I’d consider something else. I wouldn’t consider Flashforge due to privacy concerns, which you can read about o

Advice on the Q2

I am still about to buy my first printer. I only used printer in classes or at a friend. If you want the most ease of use, choose Bambu Lab, but you will also receive the most locked down 3D printer and technically a spyware. Think like this... If it's too good to be true and isn't, YOU are the prod

Desire to acquire a

There are a few places with large model repositories: printables.com makerworld.com - Bambu centric Thingiverse.com - one of the originals, seemingly seeing less maintenance over time. What can you make? Huh. In the past 30 days, I've built a complete homelab rack, ice scrapers for the cars, a toolb

Best Printer for beginners

That's tough on the pricing honestly. Personally, I'd go for a CoreXY printer over the bedslingers (e.g. Ender, Neptune, A1 on your list). CoreXY is a bit more complicated but in general better print quality and faster. You don't get too much into expected usage, but are you going to want or 'need'

State of Bambulab, still the No. 1?

Honestly it depends on the person but for me the best mid range 3D printer is between the Qidi Q2 (if you don't care too much about multicolor but still want the option, and if you want to do engineering materials) and the Snapmaker U1 if you care about multicolor.

Looking for advice on my first 3D printer for a research/maker project!

An A1 Mini would do most of what you want, you'd be limited when it comes to engineering materials: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2023827-inslogic-pa6-cf-filament-profile-for-a1-mini?from=search#profileId-2181604 A1 Mini with AMS Lite is a lot of printer for the money. Qidi Q2 and Snapmaker U1 ar

Best choice for a 1st printer?

They both are excellent printers. I had the same goals- targeting specifically the higher end/higher temp engineering filaments and at the time the Qidi Plus 4 was the best option hands down. It has been a unbeleivably good printer to that end. It virtually eliminated the entire learning curve for h
