Is the qidi q2 worth it?
The Qidi Q2 is a new machine, so the community cannot realistically provide you with much feedback on its service history. However, I'll try to paint some context for you: The Q2 isn't just an enclosed core xy system. It comes stock with a bi-metal hardened nozzle and a heated chamber with temperatu

Looking for a 3D printer.
Look at a qidi. They are the cheapest printer with a heated chamber. For engineering bits that is very useful. Some also have adequate air filtration. Again useful for engineering filaments. https://us.qidi3d.com/products/plus4-3d-printer Or https://us.qidi3d.com/products/qidi-q2 Otherwise the centa

what made your robotics skills go from rookie to more advanced?
Three things: Going through all the CAD tutorials on OnShape. Going through the free ebook "learn Java for FTC" with the help of the virtual robot simulator (our fork is here) https://github.com/ARES-23247/virtual_robot. Getting some advanced manufacturing going. I know you may not have a budget for

Generelle Kaufempfehlung

State of Bambulab, still the No. 1?
Honestly it depends on the person but for me the best mid range 3D printer is between the Qidi Q2 (if you don't care too much about multicolor but still want the option, and if you want to do engineering materials) and the Snapmaker U1 if you care about multicolor.

Looking for advice on my first 3D printer for a research/maker project!
An A1 Mini would do most of what you want, you'd be limited when it comes to engineering materials: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2023827-inslogic-pa6-cf-filament-profile-for-a1-mini?from=search#profileId-2181604 A1 Mini with AMS Lite is a lot of printer for the money. Best choice for a 1st printer?
They both are excellent printers. I had the same goals- targeting specifically the higher end/higher temp engineering filaments and at the time the Qidi Plus 4 was the best option hands down. It has been a unbeleivably good printer to that end. It virtually eliminated the entire learning curve for h

Never welded before. Want to build a 500kg race car in 7 months. Talk me out of it.
Things like suspension detailed design and manufacturing, wiring, hydraulics routing, pedal assembly (if you’re not buying something) will take a lot of time. Go to your local hardware store and take note of what steel stock they sell. Use that stock in your design because you will often run out of

Upgrade just for enclosure?
Most printers that include enclosures also have carbon and particulate filters, fans and temperature sensors/controls to better monitor and control the temperature, AND minimize (but not eliminate) odors from printing ASA or ABS. Most lower end models use the heat from the print bed to provide the h
