Cotopaxi Batac 24l or Osprey Sportlite 25l
Absolutely get to a shop where she can try them on, preferably with sample weights. The Batac 24 has no structure and it’s quite tall. The Sportlite 25 comes in several torso sizes and is a far more sophisticated pack. They have a new Jet 28 that is very interesting: https://www.osprey.com/jet-28 Th

Has finally arrived
It’s fine for day hikes. I used it in Acadia. The laptop compartment can be used for a water bladder and then just mostly zipped up and run down the shoulder on the zipper side with the hose keeper strap. It’s not as comfortable as my Osprey Sportlite 25L, but it’s a perfectly fine bag to carry the

Cotopaxi Batac 24l or Osprey Sportlite 25l
The Osprey is the better bag, designed to last forever with a great warranty. I love my Sportlite and it is by far the most comfortable bag I own. The weight transferring hip belt really works.

Bag Recommendation Megathread -- 28 July 2025
I'm split between the Osprey Sportlite 25L and the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L for a 10-day trip. I did a practice pack and my items (barely) fit into a 22L pack, so I need a little bit more space. I need this to be a daypack for exploring cities but also for a 5+ hour hike where I need to carry 2+ litres of

Patagonia Mini MLC - Old v New
I, right now, have a new mlc mini, an Osprey Sportlite 25L, & a Matador Beast 28L & I’m trying to decide which one to keep. They’re all great bags. If you know you love the old one, you should try out the new one? The water bottle pocket is nice (there’s only one.) The many pockets will prob be grea

What type of one-bagger are you? Jetsetter or Pilgrim?
I’m more of a Pilsetter. Walking through cities is a great joy of mine & sitting in a cab or bus or subway when I could be wandering the streets is a waste of valuable travel time, to me. Upon arrival in NYC on my last trip, I walked from Penn Station to the hotel, about 4km. On the last day, my pla

Suggestions for the Azores
My go-to bag for the Azores was the Osprey Sportlite 25L (a bit bigger than what you're looking for, but we've always had great experiences with their bags. That said, key is to bring along a bag cover, whichever pack you choose.

Help Choosing a Backpack for Southeast Asia: Gregory Jade 38, REI Trail 40, or Gregory Tribute 40?
The REI Trail 40L should meet carry on dimensions. The other two do not. Can you go smaller? As a 5’ tall woman, the Trail 40L is quite large. My daypack is the Osprey Sportlite 25L, and I really love it for hiking. It weighs only 1.65 pounds, and I can carry everything I need for indefinite travel
