Phantom 38 or mutant 38
A bag is a bag... I use the mutant 38 and like it. I think Osprey's backpacking heritage really shines in that it has a very supportive frame, and I've overloaded it with 40+ lb.

Pack weight?
None of them seems super comfortable, but also not unbearable at all. Ok, now we are getting somewhere. If they all feel about as easy / difficult / uncomfortable to carry, that is probably because you aren't used to the weight, rather than any specific variations in design. For example, the Osprey

Pack for trad and light backpacking?
My Osprey mutant 52 has been great. Mutant 38 also gets it done but you'll need to pack thoughtfully. Both packs carry weight really well and have been durable. Climbing packs have less bells and whistles on them compared to hiking/backpacking packs. I personally like the simplicity but something to

40L Mountaineering pack?
If a cloth bucket with a strong frame is what you yearn for, I vote the Osprey Mutant 38.
