Backpack for travel/carr on too

Check out Osprey farpoint/fairview 40L. It’s a travel backpack so it also has a clamshell opening that’s easy to get stuff in/out of like a suitcase. The backpack straps are actually really comfortable so you can walk with your pack fully loaded for longer distances, up stairs, etc. It’s very resili

Advice for a big pack for homelessness/temporary displacement/no vehicle

If you really, truly, need it to be 100% waterproof, I'd go for 40-50L dry bag backpack, there's plenty out there. They're intended for raft/kayak camping, but I've seen them used heavily by boat crews and people that work out in the elements. If comfort matters more, there's plenty of 50-70L backpa

What’s the best travel backpack you’ve actually used and loved?

Can My Think Tank Bags Fly as Personal Items on American Airlines? (737-800/A319)

This is not a camera bag, but our family uses Osprey 40 Farpoint/Fairview backpacks as carryons which are 9H X 14W X 22D IN on American and Spirit and never had an issue. We just try to look "skinny" as we jokingly call it when boarding. You should be fine.

Travelling Backpack recommendations

The FarPoint 55 will count as 2 bags for Delta (USA): 40L qualifies as carry-on, and the 15L as a personal item. The 15L is actually smaller than would be permitted as a personal item, so you are giving up a bit of packing room if that is important - it worked fine for us, traveling as a couple (wif

Tips for Bags to Buy

I'm not really a onebagger but I fake it when it serves me. Traveling with my daughter when she was younger is a great example. For you and your husband: Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 each. Probably. Given the kind of trip this is, you could also do something like the REI Trail 40 and packing cubes. I

How are people flying with daypacks for inn-to-inn hikes (Kerry/Beara Way style trips)?

One trip we packed our Deuter 50+10 into a large duffle style bag we bought from Ross. Then we donated the duffle. We ended up switching to the Osprey Farpoint/Fairview and can be carried on.

Indefinite 32L One Bag Travel - 27+ countries over the next 13ish months with a single backpack

With a 15kg load I would want a pack with a load transferring harness and proper torso length fit. The Nebula is 11.42” deep, contributing to poor ergonomics as well as carry on compliance issues. The Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 leads the list (and on sale at REI). Carry-on backpacks that transfer l

first time international travel

Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 is very usable and nicely fits the maximum size for a carryon bag.

Backpack to invest in

50L is actually a solid sweet spot for a 3–4 week interrail trip, especially if you pack light. It’s versatile enough for future travels too. Osprey is a great choice (look at the Farpoint/Fairview line), and you can usually find them around your budget if you catch a sale or go slightly older model
