Packs

I’ve used about every pack on the market. And my favorite is Hill People Gear. Fits more like a real hiking pack, but still comfortable for digging line. Can fit way more than I need compared to Mystery Ranch Big Ernie or nargear packs. Can stuff chaps (typo was “chaos) or even a whole bladder bag u

Yeti packs are definitely Built For the Wild

It’s because that’s a mystery ranch backpack - Yeti bought MR a few years ago and looks like they’re just branding those bags as Yetis. The triple zipper design is a staple MR design. Not sure about their quality now that Yeti owns them, but they were amazing bags before.

Send it in for repair or embrace it?

I have an old Mystery Ranch pack (Ravine 50) in for repair right now. MR is a stand up company.

Elk Hunting Pack

I used to be a big Mystery Ranch guy, but the quality started to suffer and I switched to Stone Glacier. The SG fit is 10X better than MR.

Any Good Backpacks in 2026 That Perform as Advertised?

Just like every other time this question has been asked, GoRuck, 5.11 Rush series, Eberlestock, and possibly Mystery Ranch. Im getting more hesitant on MR the longer its owned by Yeti, im expecting the quality to fall off at some point.

What are your most reliable hiking gear Brands?

I guess the answer here depends a little bit on exactly where you're intending on hiking (climate, weather), but I've had great success using budget friendlier gear... The other thing to note here is that what you want to accomplish with your gear and how you want to hike this hike is going to affec

MR Mountain ruck static line jump question

Yeah well aware under normal circumstances like the Molle 2k or 4k / Alice, you girth hitch it on the x you make with the h harness.I was watching a guy on YouTube and he had his girthhitched on the loop on the bottom. I have it on the h harness right now and it looks perfect, but the hook pile tape

Which should I get?

Shop around and find a Mystery Ranch Bridger 65. They're more comfortable and more durable than either of the packs you mention, and they are more well-designed in terms of ease of interior access and compartmentalization. The downside of Mystery Ranch is that Dana Gleason sold the company to Yeti t

Ideal backpack for a Big & Tall guy

I just returned a mystery ranch frame (22.5” torso). The shoulder straps were long enough, but the load lifters were way too low at the taller shoulder length. I’m returning an Eberlestock frame right now too. It fits better than the MR, but same issue with the load lifters angle.
