i ran into this on my SP11 last month. for me it was a driver glitch with the detach event. try restarting explorer.exe or running the surface diagnostic toolkit first. if that doesn't stick, plugging into an external monitor via a USB C hub sometimes resets the display stack and fixes it. kinda ann
