If you want the best, go with the LG Sound Suite. H7 sound bar, just the sound bar, but it is a beast. If you want something with it, I recommend the LG SC9S. That comes with a subwoofer. Not wanting LG? Look into the Sony Bravia Bar 5 or Bar 6. If you have any questions on them, lmk!

No TV required if you get the H7 soundbar as it will act as the Dolby Atmos Flex Connect (DAFC) hub for the units you group with it (M5s or M7s). The soundbar has the α11 Processor which runs the DAFC. If you have a compatible LG TV then you can use e.g 1 to 4 M7s with the TV acting as the DAFC hub.

Just for clarification, you do not need the sound bar to use the speakers as standalone speakers. You do need Wi-Fi for the initial set up with the LG app. The system is very very flexible. I’ve reached out to both LG and TCL, which have the only FlexConnect devices to market, neither support any flavour of DTS (while their previous soundbars did). It seems FlexConext devices will be Dolby centric, so if this tech takes off it’s going to be harder and harder to get soundbars with DTS.
