Why do you love thinkpad?

I once found a ThinkPad X270 at my school, literally thrown into a trash container without RAM or a disk. I grabbed it and tried to revive it by installing some spare RAM from another laptop, but it didn’t turn on. I was really sad and had no idea how to fix it, so I just stored it in my room like a

Switching from Windows 11 Pro to Linux

On my ThinkPad X270, I use LMDE7 with XFCE. But Debian (13) with KDE Plasma should run really smoothly on your Laptop.

Used linux for 2 months and switched back to Win11

I believe one needs to use the tools one needs to get the work done. I personally have a MacBook for video editing but I love my ThinkPad x270. It has opened my mind to a whole new aspect of tinkering with computers and I am really enjoying it.

Battery not working properly x270, 6 cell 72WH

Hey, I’ve run into the same issue when hunting for a new battery for my old ThinkPad x270. I bought a replacement from AliExpress, and as soon as I installed it, my CPU frequency tanked just like you described. Tried all the usual tricks from the internet-tweaking power settings, reinstalling driver

How can I buy a refurbished ThinkPad in India

I did my research just now on India and thought long and hard about my response. Here it is: Buying a refurbished ThinkPad (specifically T480/T490/P-series) in India is excellent for Linux, often found for ₹18,000–₹25,000. Reputable online vendors include Saudewala, NewJaisa, and Lestic. For Linux,

There's already so much to learn that I cannot answer. I'm a Linux user and retired programmer and I'm just pleased to have a machine running FreeBSD. I had difficulties with backlight and the media keys on my ThinkPad x270 and also with sound (Realtek chip), but little by little I find informations

laptop recommendation

Your best value option is likely to be a used well well built laptop with good community support for Linux. ThinkPad laptops are a prime example. Choose well for an excellent screen and keyboard, decent CPU and upgradeable memory. Replace HDD with SDD. May need replacement third party battery if you

Anyone using Fedora 42 XFCE?

Using fedora with xfce, not updated to version 42 yet. XFCE is great with its no-bullshit UI. Everything works. (although I'm running Fedora on an old ThinkPad X270)
