AI crisis: Affordable Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are getting expensive

Yes. It was time to update my ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 OLED. I think it was $7k AUD around 2020 so I had that amount budgeted over time to replace about now. I want another OLED, 2-4TB SSD, 64-128GB memory and great video card. Priced up multiple ThinkPad models to around ~$12k-$16k AUD. Fuuuuuuuck

Worth it ? ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 | 4K OLED | 40GB RAM | 1TB SSD | Workstation

I mean I have cheaper laptops from 20yrs ago that still work. For $600 I would not buy a X1 Extreme Gen 2 (which is basically the same as my P1 Gen 2). You can go to BestBuy or whatever and buy a $600 brand new Lenovo laptop that isn't a Thinkpad that will spank the hell out of the X1E Gen 2. It won

I need your expert opinion on which thinkpad to get, the P15 or P16. I think these are the best models for me so please tell me what I need to look for when buying one used.

That's what's in the 5540. The 5550 has one generation newer

Help me buy a Thinkpad!!!!

Sounds like somebody's been watching influencer content. Business and workstation computers rarely have gamer graphics. Some workstations share chassis with related consumer models, e.g. Dell Precision and this model of XPS: Dell XPS 15 7590 (i7-9750H, 32GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 15.6", Windows 11 Pro, GTX

Best School Computer to Buy?

I have been a thinkpad user since my first laptop. I’ve been through T series, E series, X series, X1C and X1E. The quality assurance is far from what it used to be, and even with Lenovo’s heavy discounts it’s increasingly hard to justify the price. I don’t think I can recommend thinkpads anymore an
