I’m starting to resent my T480
As a student, you might as well come back to MacBook - brand-new Neo is 850 CAD with education discount, or you should be able to find older M chip Air models under 1000 CAD second hand. You get Microsoft Office IIRC, good battery life, good bright screen (some ThinkPads model configs still somewhat

I bought a t490 on accident thinking it was a t480.
What makes the t480 the last good thinkpad People on the internet who lie to themselves, and the YouTube creators who monetize them. The T480 is the best choice for someone with a very limited budget, or someone who wants to try Linux without investing much into it. The cheapest modern ThinkPad is b

Will this laptop handle fedora KDE well ?
I have this exact one so i assume my words will be of help, first to answer your question, it flies with fedora Now to the more important topic, it's a peice of junk, it WILL break, not linux, the laptop's physical frame, more specifically the hinge, it's not a matter of if it will break, it's a mat

Is this a good price and setup for starter t480?
Its popularity has made the T480 one of the most overpriced used ThinkPad models. An 8 year old laptop with a basic, by current standards, 4 core Intel 8th Gen, with weak UHD graphics, and here with a very poor and dim 1366x768 display. If $209 is the price, no. T480, at the right price, is a nice L

Framework claims Dell is trying to derail Framework's marketing by sending influencers Dell XPS laptops
Lenovo fucked up the firmware of the T480 so badly, I'm not gonna trust them any time soon. And there’s still a sky-wide difference between a company that’s committed to open hardware and one that’s just tossing its customers a few crumbs of unsoldered RAM.

Got my first ThinkPad, it's pretty cool
I'm not agains Thinkpads, I love keyboard trackpoint, but speakers and screen is so bad. Sorry for this. I had many of them Thinkpad R40, T61, SL410, T410, W520, W530, X1C Gen 2, Gen 4, T480, T14s Gen 1 and last one P14s Gen1. ThinkVantage is best between all laptop brands. It works perfect and this

T470 in 2026
You're still ending up with a machine that isn't supported in W11, and Windows 10, free extended security updates, ends this November, so the OS becomes more and more vulnerable over time. You can unofficially run W11 on it, but it's a heavier load for older hardware, than W10. Or obviously run a li

Framework claims Dell is trying to derail Framework's marketing by sending influencers Dell XPS laptops
I don't understand how you come to the conclusion that Framework "took the lead" here and the iFixit collaboration has resulted in a far more modular machine, when the 8 year old T480 and all other Thinkpads before that already had all of that, they just needed more disassembling. Most Thinkpads hav

T480 pricings
The primary thing in my opinion it to check if the Thunderbolt port is working and if its firmware has been upgraded to the latest version, otherwise you could find yourself with a brick in a short time. Many people seem not aware of this T480 huge problem that is also relevantly addressed on Lenovo

I’m starting to resent my T480
you are not supposed to run Windows 11 on T480 at all... and Windows 11 simply runs slow on every hardware anyways, my company laptop with Ultra 7 265H and 64G ram still struggles to even run M$ Teams smoothly if M$ office is something inevitable just get an M silicon mac and come back to ThinkPad +
