I improved my monitoring situation, mixing is way easier and now I’m finding most plugins useless.
The accuracy of the control room cannot be stressed enough, but from an equipment standpoint, the things that have the biggest impact on the final sound of a mix are those things that turn acoustic sounds into electricity, and those that turn electrical impulses back into sound. Monitors are typical

need help choosing studio monitors
Yamahas are good. For the price, I also like JBL, for example their 305P mk II. You can add a subwoofer later if you feel you’re missing out on the bass.

Second Pair of Monitors: Smaller with additional Subwoofer or 8"?
Ive used my jbl 305p (5 inch version) since 2009 as a professional (it was a different model name before). In my first job, i worked in an "alternate" studio room they had, and they gave me the 308, so things were pretty familiar. Over the years, i've upgraded to thousands of dollars worth of other

The Volume vs Bass Boxing Match
I really don't see what the matter was. In the first instance, I can hear the bass nice and fat chugging away with body and all (in my JBL 305's monitors for reference). More volume doesn't necessarily mean less bass. So many genres are loud af (see brostep, riddim, or any dubstep genres lol) that h

Looking for good PC stereo speakers under $200 – is a subwoofer worth it?
JBL 305P MkII and search FB marketplace for SVS, HSU or Monolith THX subwoofers is your best bet.

focusrite speakers
That's a really lovely idea. Though I'm going to suggest you take a different route. For speakers near your budget, I'd probably look at the JBL 305P MkII, but those are US$340 for a pair from reputable dealers. Sound good and accurate, there's an optional subwoofer that your boyfriend could buy dow

How do I Treat a room i am making
i feel you on the rabbit hole - spent weeks reading about room treatment before i did anything. for a 9x11 space you probably don't need double walling or mass loaded vinyl. start with rock wool panels for first reflection points and corners, then add bass traps later. that combo cuts flutter echo a
