NUC5CPYH, troubles, and I feel like a newb.
I've got one of these, currently running HAOS (Home Assistant OS, a customised Linux server). It's fine for that purpose but it's a very slow machine for any kind of desktop OS. Windows 10 was very slow on it and the integrated graphics weren't powerful enough for 1080p streaming. Even Linux desktop

Planning to get a NUC8i7HVK (hades canyon); is it still worth today compared to other mini pc with Ryzen APU in the same 400-800 dollars range?
$350 or less, don't overspend on something so old. Especially since the driver situation is iffy. But yes, typically any mini PC with a Strix Point APU that has a Radeon 890M should outperform the HVK in gaming by a bit. Intel's new Panther Lake chips are apparently even better.
