Abysmal performance eGPU &XT9070

Tbf I’d ignore the dudes saying your specs can’t hold up to this. I have an HP Spectre x360 13.5” with a weaker CPU than yours (i7-1165G7, lower TDP than yours) paired with an RTX 3070 and a Razer Core X which has the old TB3 eGPU chip. The game runs fine as is, and I can even run at 4K with setting

Debian based distros vs RH based distros

Thanks for the engagement! I recently ordered a new T14 Gen 6 AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO from Lenovo with Fedora as the OS. I currently run Pop OS 2t.04 on my T480s and have not had any issues and appreciate the Cosmic DE. I have used Ubuntu with Gnome DE and didnt like the way the customizations were lacki

I used an openSUSE Snapshot to fix something serious for the first time ever!

Just installed 6.17.4-1 and all seems to be back to normal. This is on a HP Spectre x360. I believe the problem was related to a bug in the intel VMD controller.

Laptop for cnc router

I just got a mini pc for my cnc micro mill and it works great. Plenty capable. Like $180 on amazon with a 500gb ssd. I actually use my hp spectre x360 for CAD design itself. And it really doesn’t have much trouble. I have a spec’d out gaming pc but I just use the laptop since I keep it in my shop. B

Looking for new Surface Pro without ARM

You’ll probably want to stick with Intel-based models up to the Surface Pro 9 (non-ARM version) that’s the last one before Microsoft really started pushing ARM hard. The Surface Pro 8 and Pro 7+ are both great options for what you’re doing (Live2D, digital art, light gaming). • Surface Pro 8: 11th-g

I have a chromecast with 4K but it lags and games are unplayable. My TV is hisense and the hdmi port I use is capped at 4k@60hz. However, for the stream I use 720p@60hz, even with bitrate as low 10. Do anyone have success using this device?

Nope. However I tried a spectre x360 and that worked flawlessly so it is definitely the chromecast. My plan is to try a different host, maybe sunshine and see if it improves.

How is the trackpad and battery life experience on Framework 13 using Linux?

How weird! For the record I have an HP Spectre x360, though it is quite old now, and the fedora setting works perfectly

Linux and spectre x360

I just installed Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS on a 2020 spectre x360 with an i7 8565U. I made a 60gb partition in windows and dual booted Ubuntu there just to try it out. All the drivers work out of the box, even the touchscreen and screen rotation work. It is also amazing that Ubuntu only takes up 15gb space

Choosing a Spectre x360

When I had the MBP I mostly used bootcamp to access window OS. Eventually I switched to Parallel because I needed the seamless transfers macOS offered between my tablets and phone, without sacrificing windows OS. I wish there was a way to inject an HP laptop into my apple ecosystem, sidecar, airdrop
