Same problem here, I have the PW4 bought recently around a month ago. I swam around like 5-6 times with it, it only worked once (when i restarted it before swimming). Other times also i restarted but didnt track shit. However, my wife has a PW2, which tracks the swimming perfectly without any issue.

I came here to share something like this. I'd love to get the official Google metal links band line u/Diznaster and u/dzihan_, but I'm not made of money and it's $200. recently tried the same to track a swimming session with my Pixel watch 2, it just died. Wouldn't turn on and by chance if it does, the crown and the side button is not working, the battery dies in 2 hours. Seems like there's no way it will work normally. Very costly mistake.

Back plate on pw2, now crown on pw4.. Google needs to figure out their hardware quality control.

The cable on the PW2 charger has a manufacturing defect. If you call Google they will replace it because it is a known defect. It causes ridiculously slow charge rates. They sent me a new one (which still has the defect and will eventually fail like the first one) but for now, it is working.
