As someone who's owned a Fenix 3, 5, 6, 7, Tactix 7, Forerunner 735XT, 955, and now has spent time with both the Forerunner 970 and Tactix 8 AMOLED (which I ended up keeping because I've worn a 51mm Garmin for years), I think Reddit tends to overstate the downsides of AMOLED. MIP is awesome, and the

I have a Garmin Insinct 3 AMOLED Tactical that I also added AB Elite to. It will have all the same onboard sensors as the Tactix 8 AB Elite except the depth sensor. That being said, Instinct 3 AMOLED Tactical could theoretically replace a Kestrel, but as far as I know, it doesn't have a hygrometer (

Been with Garmin since the 920 and currently have the Tactix 8 amoled and have the Balance Ultra as I was a tester for it and HR and GPS are spot on with Garmins and the Tactix has been the drawer for awhile as the Ultra does everything I want/need the same or better than Garmin. I strength train 4-

Just don’t. I had a vertical 2 and swapped it for the tactix 8. Big mistake. What a pile of poo the garmin is. Laggy as hell and the maps are so bad they are unusable. It’s going back and I’m getting another V2. Thank god all during the 30 day return window.

The whole point of these watches is a solid stable HR and without it what's the point lol! I would say then just buy one of those cheap ass brands since they supposedly have it "all" but funny thing is I don't see a single athlete in any sport using them. And ya sorry Amazfit is right up there with

Same. Came from a Tactix 8. Love the simplicity, extremely comfortable. Sometimes don’t notice I’m wearing it. Personal dislikes: training plans are limited, specifically triathlon. VO2 max function is useless. Don’t like the RHR function. The recovery metric seems a bit exaggerated. Likes: the simp

The original from Garmin in All Black fits perfectly with the Instinct. On the Tactix 8 the original is with some gray as well as the Tactix bezel. The all black fits both.

My set up on the ultra is a tad different as I don't have any holes at the top and just two on the bottom but I will say there is absolutely zero skin contact with those holes and I haven't had any issues with altimeter or anything and I'm running in AZ with temps over a 100 degrees and I'm a sweate

I’m a cop and I wear the Tactix 8 solar. It’s the perfect balance for me since I work in a tac unit and run marathons for run. The Tactix and Fenix are both great fits for police work if you are a runner and Fenix will be perfectly fine for him for years to come. If he’s into endurance sports he wil

Yes as I’ve used all and know all ecosystems especially Garmin, Apple, and Suunto and currently using the Balance Ultra. HR and GPS accuracy spot on with Garmin and better of a smartwatch plus zero lag when going into apps/widgets and especially when using maps unlike Garmin which is atrocious. I al
