Other than being beautiful, what does Suunto do better than others?
Succinctly, Suunto appeals more to outdoor enthusiasts, while Garmin is better for those who prefer a multi-functional watch oriented toward fitness and smartwatch features. Garmin's maps—both in the app and online—are below bad . I’ve never understood why. The accuracy of the GPS, temperature senso

Need help deciding between Coros Pace 4 and Garmin Fr 165
Between those 2 (and for your specific use case), Coros, no hesitation. There is NO triathlon / multisport activity on the 165! The Pace 4 has it. That would seem like a big deal for you. As you carry a phone while running anyway, you have no need for music on the watch (which is Garmin's main stren

gps watch to track while orienteering & running in woods
I've been doing research for a month or two, trying to decide on what's a good gps watch (preferably within the $250 budget range). I'm just uncertain which watch would be good and solid for gps tracking especially when under tree covers. it seems it could be:
- Garmin Forerunner 255 (my concern with

Here’s the photo you didn’t ask for: 3 generations side-by-side
I have an original Solar and was looking forward to the 3. The 3Solar is very nice, but the AMOLED one is confusing to say the least, as far as Garmin's strategy with it. Color MIP would have been nice, but AMOLED with no touch or maps is bizarre (and those models are expensive for what you get, com

I want to get a sportwatch
Also consider the Forerunner 955. Maybe a last-gen Fenix. DC Rainmaker has really good reviews of this stuff. I have a Forerunner 165. It's just ok. Some of the training functionality is nerfed and for hiking I think maps on my wrist would be cool. More quick reference than planning. Prices have gon

Switching to Coros
Former Forerunner 165 user here. I switched to Coros because their watches offer a lot more features at a lower price point compared to Garmin. After a year of using my Garmin I wanted to get more features like offline maps and Training Status, which unfortunately is only available on much more expe

Trail runner looking for a new watch - seeking your advice!
I have the Suunto Run and when I compare the GPS tracks with my previous Garmin Forerunner 165 and Fenix 6 Pro the Suunto is superior in any condition city, trails or track. I imagine the Race 2 and Vertical 2 being the same or better. OHR on the Suunto Run is also very good and above what I was get

Affordable Hiking Smartwatch Recommendation?
Edit: oops, you asked what I'm using. Sometimes a GShock without any smarts or sensors, sometimes a Garmin Forerunner 165. Usually my phone to navigate, though there's always a compass in my pack and sometimes a paper map. Sometimes a Garmin inReach Explorer+. For mountain biking and road cycling, a

Pace 3 consistently recording 6% shorter distance versus both maps & Forerunner?
Is this really just a known/accepted feature?
I map out a route in the Coros app, and then my Forerunner 165 gets very close to that distance while the P3 always comes in 600m shorter per 10k (wearing both).
Happens on both dual band & all systems on modes. This is in suburban UK so barely any ta
