Should I wait for Garmin Fenix 9 or just go for Fenix 8 pro
IMO: Wait. I think the next Fenix series could be a much bigger upgrade than the last few generations, especially if Garmin finally starts using some of the technology from its newer patents The most interesting one is Garmin’s patent US20250134464A1 for pressure compensation in wrist-based pulse sp

Fenix 8 amoled vs solar! Trade?
As someone who's owned a Fenix 3, 5, 6, 7, Tactix 7, Forerunner 735XT, 955, and now has spent time with both the Forerunner 970 and Tactix 8 AMOLED (which I ended up keeping because I've worn a 51mm Garmin for years), I think Reddit tends to overstate the downsides of AMOLED. MIP is awesome, and the

AW7 died around 35 km today. what are you using for best battery on long treks?
I tried going back to Garmin, Fenix 8. Ooof they still suck at software. And their watch face options are like a Temu flea market. Wore the Fenix 8 for 5 hours and couldn’t imagine using that over my AWU.

Fenix 8 Pro is useless...
What brought people to Garmin? Battery life, MIP screen (for some), history of updating software for a long period and no monthly subscription. Prices were just a bit more expensive than an apple watch. Fenix 7 pro was the last great watch from Garmin. Hopefully mine will keep working for many years

Ultra users now that we saw new ultra are you getting it
No. With AWU3, we still don't get pretty basic sport functions:- 24/7 HR monitoring,- heart rate zones estimation,- proper HRV monitoring,- suggested workout,- real training load nor any load focus,- flashlight,- maps in the workout app,- GPX track importing into the map. I don’t see any difference

[Apple] Introducing Apple Watch Ultra 3
3 days of battery on low power mode. The similarly priced Garmin Fenix 8 Pro that also has Satellite and 5G has a 14 day battery life. What's holding Apple back here?

I thought my Instinct 2's HR sensor failed... It was actually the water sealing that did!
This happens usually when the button is pressed while the watch is submerged. Instinct 3 is rated for 10 ATM only if the button is not pressed. Instinct and other lower end garmin models uses only rubber/silicone gaskets for sealing so when its pressed the seal compromises for a bit. Only fenix 8, d

[Apple] Introducing Apple Watch Ultra 3
The older OLED fenix 8 model has even better battery life than the micro-led fenix 8 pro. It's not the display tech, it's a combination of physical battery size and garmins having relatively underpowered hardware and not as many smartwatch features running in the background.

Fenix 9 to launch in ~3 weeks
Day 6, Garmin aren't bringing new features to Fenix 8, it's now obsolete. Screw this anti consumer company!

Here's what research says about Garmin's calorie burn accuracy
For what it's worth, I had an RMR test done this year and when multiplied out for activity, Garmin was within 16 calories of the test. I wear a Fenix 8 all day, every day, and I lift / cycle / run / walk daily.
