IME, most race directors do a good enough job of marking the course that GPS navigation isn't strictly necessary, but I usually have the route loaded in my phone just in case. Sometimes races will require runners to carry some sort of GPS navigation. If I have doubts about the route, I'll load it up

Pace , HR, Map , battery life (can actually last a ultra) , elevation. I honestly love the light on the garmin enduro , use it a lot. Sleep score is useful. I’m sure there’s other stuff I look at and use but those are the things I would say are a must.

Why is it upside down? I liked my g shock gw7900 ( I think? Solar with tide and moon graphs) But I LOVE my garmin enduro 3. Monster battery, great maps, tons of features.
