Running Away

Even better, get a Fi collar. AirTags require the dog to be near someone with an iPhone, Fi is satellite real time tracking. It’s obviously more expensive but if your girl is a problem runner it sounds like you need it.

Update on the Ultra

We returned it for those reasons. Can’t use Fi app without cell service, thus can’t find dog if no cell service. We tried it on a hike through light/moderate tree cover and it did not work. Other gps devices (a Fitbit with standalone gps and also iPhone using satellite messaging) did work in the loc

Five month old Cattle Dog/Husky mix. We’re in trouble haha

Air tags don't make a good substitute for a proper GPS collar because they rely on phones being around them to function. If you're in an area that doesn't have a lot of phones, then you won't find your dog. And even if you are in an area with a lot of iPhones around, that doesn't guarantee you will

Once Again - FI GPS is Absolute Crap. What a waste of money

Idk. I like my collar so far, I live in an area with good service on both carriers that they offer and I use it to get an idea of the direction my dog went (if he were to get out). Without it, I'd have no idea of direction or distance. I understand there are other options out there but I like Fi's c

Reluctantly considering coming back to the brand and picking up a series 3+ just for the battery life. Do current users think its worth it?

See my post on 3+ vs 3 battery lifehttps://www.reddit.com/r/FiDogCollar/s/W3jrCtZ04A Also, I think Bluetooth to phone or base is the most efficient.

Help

To add to this, GPS is unidirectional. The satellite will tell the collar where it is, but the collar needs to be able to tell you where it is, which is where the LTE part comes in play, and that means someone is paying the LTE company. We have Fi, which I believe uses AT&T. While this is far better

Tracking collar recs?

I used to work in a parallel industry. (Software for vet clinics) about 5 years ago, including running the companies referral marketing program. At the time there were two main companies doing cellular connected collars. On paper, the “fi” dog collar was more impressive than the other one.

[Release] Fi releases Fi Ultra - the first tracker powered by T-Satellite with Starlink - AMA

Will be a solid option once Fi receives approval to transmit data through T Mobile starlink enabled phones. Currently paid around 1k for garmin GPS collars plus radio for two dogs, would have happily paid the 600 upfront for two of these new Fi collars if it was an option at the time.

Is it worth to buy Gps Dog Collar or Leash?

I have a Fi collar for our dog. It works well, app is good, batt life is OK but it runs down fast in "lost dog mode" (48 hrs from a full charge.) It has a cellular modem and gps so way better than an airtag i think. It does give me peace of mind.

Tractive 6 experience?

I use Fi for tracking my dogs; it works fine and has decent battery life if you have a base where the dog spends most of their time. Many of the major equipment companies either have Fi attachment support on their equipment or are willing to add it for a small fee. Size is hardly noticeable on a dog
