my first turntable !!

What’s your budget? It’s very hard to beat the value of the ELAC Debut 2.0 b6.2’s.

Picked this up for free.

Is the receiver a Sony STR-VX4? Lower on the wattage end. Just find some good, efficient speakers and it will sound great. Klipsch R-40M would be nice I bet if you have a limited budget. ELAC Debut 2.0 you can find good deals on Amazon.

I need some help deciding

The turntable is good but pass on the speakers. Here’s a good alternative: Turntable: Fluance RT85 = $550Speakers: ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 = $330Preamp: Fosi X5 = $110Amp: Fosi ZA3 = $149 Much better setup for about the same price.

What was the biggest turd, "Hi-Fi" system you've ever heard?

Elac Debut 2.0. People were raving about them but to me they sounded muddled and lacking any sort of treble. Instantly hated them. On the upside, it quickly convinced my partner at the time to up the budget to a pair of Harbeth C7-iii with a Rega amp.

Thanks to this sub, I’m $2k in and counting 😩

All kinds of equivalent stuff with front ports. It is strange that for style reasons they are almost all rear ported now, which is really strange for a bookshelf application. ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2, Polk Audio T15, Fluance Signature HiFi 2

Fluance 82 vs 85 vs 85N, what to get if you're new but have some 'treat yo-self' money set aside?

Imo go with the RT85 but pass on the speaker set. Here’s a much better recommendation: Turntable: Fluance RT85 = $550Speakers: Elac debut 2.0 b6.2 = $330Preamp: Fosi Box X1 = $40Amp: Fosi BT20A Pro = $100 Equates to the same price as the turntable and speaker set you are referring to from Fluance. Smart my new place for 2026

on the audio routing question, yes it's doable but the answer depends on how you get audio out of each TV. HDMI ARC only carries one source at a time, so if you want to pull the TV's current audio (not just the apple TV / shield feed) into other rooms, the cleanest path is an HDMI audio extractor on

Receiver and bookshelf recommendations for $750 budget

I like Denon and the 2026 S760H gives a huge amount for the money. The entire S series by Denon is remarkable for their performance and Price.Definitely below $400, usually in a range of $370. Phono input, 70 W per channel. 7:2 surround capability and also Spotify, Amazon, etc., streaming capability

Advice on my setup

First upgrade, optimize the Speaker Placement, plus aim the speakers at your ears, not over your head. The basic low cost Edifiers won't be worth buying since they won't be any better than the Google speakers. Yes the Google are digital wireless and the Edifiers are analog wired however they are not
