Anyone else noticing the stinky smell around Newark/Harrison today?
It's the Darling Ingredients rendering plant. They refine animal refuse into fertilizer and other products. It's been an issue for years: https://patch.com/new-jersey/newarknj/newark-plant-sickening-community-putrid-odors-lawsuit-says Get a few air purifiers, they really help a lot. Make sure that t

I'm looking for things to make my life easier and to stay on top of cleaning. If you had ~$500 to spend, what would you buy?
I agree with this. It sounds like you're already doing a great of job consistently cleaning things, so the focus should be on how can you make those tasks easier. IMO opinion you have to spend real money on a robot vacuum for it to be worth it... and even then, their usable life pales in comparison

Affordable air purifiers
Air Doctor is overpriced. Grab a Levoit Vital 200S-P or Coway AP-1512HH — both under $200, True HEPA, quiet, filters are easy to find. For even cheaper, Levoit Core 300 ($100) works fine for a bedroom. Skip the fancy stuff. True HEPA + carbon is all you need. Here's my list of budget picks here, if

Allergies
Want a good nights sleep? Don't mind sleeping with your bedroom door closed? A HEPA purifier was a game changer when I discovered it. It makes getting through the day a bit more bearable. Even better if your workplace location makes it feasible to put one in there as well (like having your own offic

Best Air purifier for my situation?
We've bought several Coway AP-1512HH HEPA filters for ourselves and family members. They're great for bedrooms. (The price online goes up and down, but you can often get one for $150 or so on Amazon.)

My allergies have been acting up this month with the season changing. Do pet-specific air purifiers actually help?
The "pet-specific" stuff is mostly marketing. What actually matters is True HEPA + washable pre-filter so fur doesn't clog it up. The one with the flat top for cats is the Levoit Vital 200S-P, works great, quiet, under $200. Coway AP-1512HH is another solid pick. Here's a list I put together if you

Good indoor air purifier for dealing with the wildfire smoke?
Yeah, wildfire smoke is rough. The main thing is True HEPA - that's what actually catches the tiny smoke particles. I've been using the Levoit Vital 200S-P. It's got a smoke CADR of 250, auto mode, and sleep mode is super quiet (24dB). Around $180. Coway AP-1512HH is also a classic - people have bee

Trying to find the best air purifier on a budget
For 112 sq ft on a $120 budget, you don't need anything fancy. Check out the Levoit Core 200S. CADR of 110 CFM, True HEPA filter that catches 99.97% of dust and allergens down to 0.3 microns, and it's super quiet (26 dB on low) . Covers rooms up to 183 sq ft, so perfect for your space.
