Blue Air makes some nice quieter ones. I have a 211i and on auto mode it’s very quiet unless I stir up a lot of dust. The Coway Airmega 200M (and it’s near clone the AP-1512HH) is a tiny bit louder and not as nice looking but is also cheaper.

What one did you get? Edit: nevermind see the other comment "coway airmega 100" That's the one I have, was a top new York times recommended one. I recently changed the filter after ignoring it since I bought it. Good Lord did it remove a ton from my air. I need to check the filter way more often Edi

Coway Airmega 200m is great because it's real fast at removing particles. Got 2 in my house...when I close my carpeted office room, I feel a big difference with the air quality....no longer feels stuffy and my nose is no longer irritated.

You barely see Dyson recommended because they are overpriced and underperform, honestly. You are paying for the brand, not function. For a small bedroom like you are describing, you could go with the Levoit Vital 200 or Coway Airmega 200m or airmega ap-1512hh. A step up from those with a better buil

The Coway Airmega 200M is great. Fairly quiet at the lowest two speeds, priced decently including replacement filters, and not a lot of lights. If you want to be extra safe, you can also look up “light dims” and buy some. They are stickers that generally cut 50% of the brightness when you stick them

Per the AHAM 2/3 rule, a 100 sq. ft. office with an 8 ft. ceiling needs minimum CADRs of 67 CFM. If you experience wildfire smoke conditions, the Smoke CADR needs to equal the room's area, so a Smoke CADR of at least 100 CFM. Unfortunately most brands only list CADRs for the highest airflow speed/se

Definitely avoid the PuroAir pictured here. It's astroturfed to death, not high quality, and the company tried suing a legitimate review website for an unfavorable review. I wouldn't buy the Dyson recommended by someone else either. Dyson is known for glossy marketing and poor performance for many o

If you need to filter particulates (e.g., smoke particles) and smoke gases/vapors/odors/VOCs, you really need two types of air purifier. Most common purifier brands have very little activated carbon or other sorbent media by weight. They are designed to capture particulates quickly. You need many po

This can be tricky since certain bird species produce loads of dust. The visible particles you see wouldn't be captured by the purifier (unless very close to the air intake(s)) as they're large and heavy compared to "invisible" pollution like PM2.5. "Gold standard" and "budget" aren't really compati
