BOOX support has been dragging my case for almost a month instead of giving a real solution

Dead zones on eink devices are not unusual. If Boox don't know what the problem is, then that says a lot about the company. It's a bad look. I won't be buying one now. I was looking at the note air 5c. It's expensive. Not going to risk my money

Why hasn’t anyone launched a Kickstarter for an 8-inch e-ink device that’s actually open source, with generous storage and no ecosystem lock-in? Feels like there’s a real gap here. If someone executed it well, it could seriously shake up the whole Kindle/Kobo duopoly.

This. I've tried a Onyx / Boox which is similar in the sense that it's not subsidised by taking a big cut of book sales. It was expensive, clunky, and had crap build quality in comparison to my Kindles. Not fun to use, even though I liked the form factor and features.
