Boox hardware is being seriously let down by the software. I have 3 premium Boox devices and can no longer give them the benefit of the doubt anymore (Tab X, Note Max, Air 4C). My Note Max felt abadoned within 4 months of release. Software is also non-inutitive and really not enjoyable to use.

Nope. I don't think any of the newer large BW boox e-readers have a front light. I decided I would just give in and get a color ereader (note air 4c) but it's just not as good for manga and I returned it. I was pretty happy with the software though, and I would happily get something like the one OP

I own the Go 10.3 Boox Note air 4c and the Go 7 Gen 2 B&W and the Go 7 Gen 1. One bit off feedback is change the defualt background color setting for all Google apps to 0. The default is set to 1 and this results in buttons throughout the app to be blacked out. It took me a year to realise how to fi

Lack of "otterbox like" cases for these e ink devices is a real limiting factor. Im still searching for something to "armor up" either my boox air 4c or my already damaged rmpp ( nic in screen from something, very small)

100% kobo. Its cheaper than the boox and in all honesty I think a better quality product. I had a boox note air 4c and it stopped charging (not a good look for all other product lines.) Kobo is repairable, boox is not. To get a black and white device that costs more than a color device is honestly s

Depends on a lot of stuff. I have books and PDFs that always look weird on my Note Air 4C, no matter which settings in eink center I choose. And there are other books and PDFs that look quite okay, even with similar colors (especially light skin color). On my iPad all look similar. I guess, Boox doe

For extensive notes, I don't think these two are great options for you, OP. They're great e-readers, but it looks like you want a device more for note-taking with the added benefit of being an ereader. Boox would be the way to go vs Kobo simply because Boox is more of an open system since it's Andro

Price is the main concern. For those who only want to read on e-paper, Kindle is sufficient. Not everyone wants or needs the features of the Boox. I have both Note Air4c and Kindle Basic 11. I almost always bring the Kindle 80% of the time during travels. No one who only wants to read ebooks should

I’d recommend keep using the iPad, it is still the best device for colored comics. I have an iPad and a Boox Note Air 4C and for comics the iPad wins by far. The Air 4C has a SD card slot and it is okay for reading comics and manga. It’s size with around 11“ also works quite well for most comics. Th

Still waiting my Note A1 but looking at all the reviews, seems the SW is not up to speed. I bet on TCL to improve it, as there are lots of benchmark they can use to figure out what to implement. No need to re-invent the wheel. I also have a boox (Note air 4C) and I’m wondering how to easily sync not
