Most separate permanent pre-filters may be washed or vacuumed. See Types of Pre-Filters header from our "How To Choose An Air Purifier for Particulates [Comprehensive Guide]". Integrated pre-filters can be vacuumed, but I would use the lowest suction setting possible to remove coarse dust and hair.
