TIL that storing your headphones with a few silica gel packets in the case can stop moisture from slowly breaking down the ear cups, adding years to their life. silica pulls humidity out of the air so sweat and dampness don’t stay trapped inside your pads
Silica can be recharged. Pop it in the oven for a bit. A few grams? Sweet! Let's say 3 g and 35% — that's about a mL of water pulled out of the air. They are only a year old next month how do I fix this?!
Don't buy 'gaming' headphones. you won't like it, but this is the true fix. I never looked back after going Beyerdynamics DT1990 Pro MKII and have had no issues for over a year now.
