It's really good.. I'm using it with Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro MKI.It's not crazy detailed and because of that it's suitable for longer listening sessions.I think that to beat that DAC/AMP you need to spend larger money. My recommendation is R2R DAC any other sigma delta will be basically the same.

You can increase the volume with a DAC / AMP. My current setup that I use on my PS5 is as follows… Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro + Schiit HEL + MocMic USB. The ModMic is your only “attach to the side of the headphone” option in my opinion. I’ve used them for years and they always sound great to my friend
