We just bought our first house in the 'burbs. Use MoCA or hire low voltage company to install Cat6e?

I've been using MoCA for 11+ months, zero hassles in that time. It's cheaper than running Ethernet too. See https://github.com/Preston-Landers/MoCA-setup-guide for an overview of the typical process. He estimates up to $500. I spent $132. Saved by getting Frontier FCA252 MoCA adapters off eBay (boug

"Best" mesh router?

TL;DR: Get any mesh system for easy setup. ASUS sells easy to install systems that include all security features for free. For your home size and design (wired backhaul) I think the BT8 (aka ZenWiFi BE14000) would work well for you. It has 2.5GB ports and is tri-band (includes 6ghz) WiFi 7. If you d

Is there a better setup?

we have the same scenario (but different setup). dalawa bahay namin mga 5 meters apart lang, tapos yung ISP modem namin is nasa House#1. Ang ginawa ko is bumili ng mesh router ASUS AX6600 XT8, ang main node is sa House#1 then ang second node is sa House#2. tapos ni-connect ang dalawa through etherne

Best WiFi Mesh UK

I use Asus ZenWifi XT8 mesh system (3 nodes) - detached house - all working flawlessly (cat 6 for ATV/Macs/gaming and wifi 6 for iPhones/security cameras etc.). Think there is a newer version of this one now though so have a check. Totally happy with performance and speed. EDIT - all nodes are CAT6

Cheap Router/mesh system for Apartment

u/crispysmoove I agree with u/TheImmortal_TK that ASUS would be a solid pick for you. BTW I have the slightly older ASUS XT8 mesh system and it works well in wireless backhaul, as it's tri-band WiFi 6 (2.4/5/5ghz bands). One of the 5ghz bands is dedicated to mesh traffic and the other 5ghz is just f

Remote play for steam super slow since I put mesh

There are several "tri band" mesh systems that aren't wifi 6E. They simply have a second 5Ghz radio completely independent from the first one. That way, wireless backhaul can be independent from the traffic between access points and clients, on a separate band and without interference between the tw

Recommend a WiFi Mesh

I'm using Asus XT8 for more than 3 years now. Although WiFi 6 ang max covered niya, super stable pa din ang WiFi 7 devices namin. Using wired backhaul between router and access point node. Planning to upgrade to Asus BT8 in the near future for WiFi7 compliance at 2.5Gb backhaul.

Struggling with dead zones in a two-story house. Should I go mesh or try running more ethernet?

Get wired backhaul set up; you won't regret it. I have an ASUS XT8 WiFi 6 mesh system. Used it in wireless backhaul for over 4 years and it worked fairly well. However there would be periodic issues where a mesh node would go offline and I'd need to reboot it. Sometimes it would work for a month or

Client disconnect/reconnect after 3sec 2-3x/day?

Thanks for sharing the info. I will add that I'm using an ASUS XT8 (Wifi 6) mesh network (wired backhaul) as the primary network in my environment. I’m trying to use the open WRT router as an access point for the 2.4 GHz network, as the iot devices don't like wifi 6. Using XT8 as "backbone" and Fres

Looking to upgrade my home networking

I’ve been happy with my ASUS XT8 mesh system (WiFi 6). I used it for over 4 years in a wireless backhaul configuration. In the last year I upgraded my network to MoCA and now use ethernet backhaul for the XT8 mesh units. This turned the mesh units into wireless access points (ā€œAPsā€). It’s more relia
