Apple CEO Tim Cook says late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs gave him this unforgettable advice before handing over the reins as CEO: "Never ask what I would do"
I’d argue there was more of a noticeable change when Ive left, than Jobs. Without Jobs, Apple continued as usual with a different style of keynotes. When Ive left, Apple's ENTIRE design language and philosophy changed almost overnight. Their products went from luxury museum pieces that traded off fe

Is this a good or bad idea?
Why could it be a bad idea? Apple stopped updating the os. With Fedora you at least have potentially infinite updates. And it runs better on Fedora than on latest macOS. At least from my experience. I have a MacBook Pro 2015. It was close to impossible to use it after the Big Sur update. Fedora brou

how can i prevent my macbook keyboard from becoming like this?
I said it once and I’ll say it again: no idea what Apple did to the keyboard. But my 13 year old MacBook Pro that I use heavily since release doesn’t look as bad. It actually almost looks new. Apart from the letter A fading.

I've reviewed hundreds of budget laptops, and the Apple MacBook Neo blows them all away
Most people don't know very much about technology so I don't think most people understand why the hardware is so good. We all know why the hardware is so good. We know about how they make it out of a single chunk of aluminum, how they have a system on a chip, how everything is integrated. We remembe

[Quartz] Yes it's a Mac, I'm an iOS Dev
Folks love to hate on macOS, but you know what? It fucking works. I love Linux, and I run Fedora on all my non-Apple machines as much as I can (I still have to use Windows on my work laptop and in a VM at home for compatibility reasons). But my MacBook Pro M2 is literally the most reliable computer

Apple Changes How You Order a Mac
The SKUs don’t change since if you look the only things offered are configurations that were originally offered on that MacBook model. It isn’t like a MacBook Air can suddenly get an M5 Pro, or a base 14 inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip 128 GB of RAM. Basically what Apple just did is all the potenti

Get A Cheaper MacBook in 2026 - Dave2D
For some reason Quinn can't quiet accept that the MacBook Air M4 / M5 is enough for most people. The MacBook Pro is now best suited for those with heavy sustained workflows in 3D and graphics. Both Tom (Byte Review) and Nicholas (Space Design Warehouse) have been raising this point since the M4 laun

I bought the cheapest Windows 11 laptop I could find on Amazon for overnight delivery and installed Linux Mint on it.
I was given a free MacBook Pro 13” mid 2010 a couple of weeks ago. It’s a duo core with 4Gb of RAM. I installed Debian Testing on it with Cinnamon desktop. It runs beautifully, completely smooth and was using around 900-1100 Mb of memory when I first booted it up. Apple hardware is great quality and

Realistically, how long will a new Macbook Pro last until plugins stop working due to lack of updates/planned obsolescence?
hard to tell. I run a MacBook Pro M1 from 2020 or 2021, and it runs just fine and is still compatible with new OS updates and software. Hardware wise, Macs are build well enough to last a long time. You often run into 10+ year old Macs still running fine. Nevertheless... Apple is not the company tha
