Normally the popular recommendation is Apple TV 4K (128). If your current one meets your needs right now, and with new devices promised “any day now”, I’d personally go HomePod Mini to save a little money and upgrade to whichever new device fits your needs when they come out. Advantage Apple TV: Eth

Is it worth getting a new HomePod now?
It's always worth getting a new HomePod mini, in every color. You gotta catch them all. HomePod minis, hear the rainbow (or taste the rainbow, if you lick them).

Question about U400
Only you will be able to use UWB and Apple key. It will not allow you to share the key with your wife without having an Apple home hub setup. I just went through this exact situation. I ended up buying a home pod mini as it was the cheapest point of entry to Apple home at $99. Honestly now that I ha

Homey Pro + HA vs Apple Home + HA: Which combo for a family-friendly smart home?
you can honestly keep the nest speakers around for music and general audio stuff, they work fine as airplay targets through the starling hub which you already have. the main thing is voice control for your smart home devices though, and google assistant won't natively trigger homekit scenes or acces

Issues with matter router. Maybe I don’t understand
If you buy a HomePod Mini right now for $99, you’ll have the Thread Border Router you need to make your chosen ecosystem—Apple HomeKit—work. If you buy the latest model Apple TV that has an Ethernet port, you’ll accomplish the same thing. But, I think you’ll mind having a slightly-older HomePod Mini

HomePod Mini Is Now 2,000 Days Old
People here not getting the point. It's not about the speaker and its sound quality. It's about the smart home system/standard/hardware. The HomePod Mini is the cheapest way to get into their smart home system, and that's why this matters.

Is a Gen 1 HomePod worth it in 2026 over 2 stereo HomePod minis?
Then just go for it. It looks absolutely good as you know this HomePod and it’s yours. Minis are nothing in front of it. But didn’t you mention you found it in FB marketplace for $150 in your original post?

Bluetooth speakers basically killed dedicated home audio setups for normal people
Or you just upgrade to something like an HomePod mini. Gets rid of that problem.

Extend thread network problem
I think a HomePod mini is your best bet that connects to wireless and has built in Thread routing. Check eBay for a cheap one since you probably won't use its other capabilities much. Otherwise, you would need a HomeKit-compatible smart home hub with WiFi and Thread like the Aqara Hub M100 which loo
