Tablet just for travel
Tbh I hate our Amazon kids tablet and would prefer a iPad. We just hide the tablet when we aren't using it. We just download movies or series on Amazon prime along with a few apps that have songs, coloring etc

Amazon Fire kids tablet not kid friendly
You raise a really good point about the Amazon Fire Kids tablet not being as user-friendly for young kids as one might expect. It does seem kinda counterintuitive to have all those downloadable app icons on the main screen for a 2-4 year old profile, when kids that age will likely just click on ever
