You can use even a potato for monitoring recording, there are a lot of famous songs where the audio from the headphones/monitors leaks into the vocal track. I swap around between my AKG K702 and audio technica ATH-M50x. Both excellent reference Headphones in my opinion. I prefer the K702s a bit when working on precise high end stuff, but I think that's due to me having used it for over 10 years now. You'll never go wrong with either of the Beyerdynamic

For under 250 you could easily buy a pair of quality headphones and an affordable USB mic. This would let you end up with far better audio and mic quality compared to almost any gaming related headset at that pricepoint. Some examples for affordable yet quality studio headphones would be: Beyerdynam

What kind of headphones have you listened to before, just gaming headsets? If so then an hd600 like the other replies mention will probably not have enough bass for the gaming part. I would recommend an ath-m40x. If you want a dedicated dac/amp then the topping dx1 ii will drive most things complete

Her headphones are AKG k702’s, and yeah I was able to just look that information up a few years ago when I bought them. Actually really good headphones too!

The AKG K702 headphones aren't that pricey. (Look up the price of the Sennheiser HD800S if you want a comparison.) Real estate in Japan is not the massive asset it is in other countries, or at least the USA. Houses get less valuable over time (or at least they did as of the time of K-On). Compared t

Headphone wise youre better off with a good set of open back headphones. Something like akg k702, seenheiser hd800, audio technica ad900x or hell if you really want an integrated mic. The new kithara from asus. They all feel like cheat codes compared to gaming headsets
