A Focusrite isn't an amplifier as such. It's a digital audio interface. It converts analog audio to digital and vice versa for computer audio recording and playback. It can be used as a headphone amp but that's not its primary purpose. I would recommend getting him a pair of studio monitor speakers

Which one?
Idk about audio array! Had their audio interface before was trash, so avoid. Get mackie cr3.5 3rd gen if you can stretch 1k more or for less hayden. I use presonus eris 3.5 as my pc speakers, while they are not great for studio work, they are very good pc speakers. I would avoid audio array tbh.

Scarlet 4th gen output
