If the HD 550 came in the HD 600 chassis, do you think it will significantly the community perception (equaling the HD600/650)?
Could be, yeah. It’s one of the best tuned Sennheiser headphones out of the box for me as well (the other ones being the HD 600, HDB 630 and HD 480 Pro + the IE 200 in case anyone was wondering).

M5 vs HDB 630 vs HD 660S - Which should I get in My Situation?
If you want the best wireless sound + good ANC = buy HDB 630. If you want still great wireless sound + the best Sennheiser ANC, buy the M5. If you don’t necessarily need ANC and great passive isolation is enough and you are ok with wires, definitely check out the new HD 480 Pro! I‘d only buy the HD

Sennheiser HD 480 Pro. Even with much more expensive cans I still end up using the 480's as a daily driver.

How much do the closed backs actually passively isolate noise? (598c, 620s, HM-26, etc.)
I don’t have exact dB attenuation numbers for you but can assure you that the HD 620S as well as the HD 480 Pro both have „as good as it gets“ passive noise isolation as far as closed-back Sennheiser headphones go. I own both and the passive isolation is truly great on both of them.

Need help with picking up a pair of sennheisers!
I would 100% take the HD 480 Pro over the 620S; more comfortable and better tune. As far as open backs go, the best option is the HD 490 Pro. I own a lot of the current sennheiser lineup (505, 515, 550, 560S, 600, 6XX, 660S/S2, etc) and the 490 Pro is the one I use. 490 Pro review (with comparisons)

Slate VSX immersion 1 vs Audeze mm-500
Closed back wise the new Sennheiser HD 480 Pro is the new king for me. Better then anything I used before.
