those are open-back headphones. that is why the mic picks up the output from them. you need closed-back. i recommend sennheiser hd 280 pro. they are an industry standard studio workhorse with a good, level sound signature, they are closed back and don’t leak much at all

Any recommendations for a beginner
I wouldn't waste money on a bedroom amp. They sound bad because the speaker is too small and they're literally useless if you want to accompany anything other than a very quiet acoustic guitar. Buy an interface and headphones with the same amount of money and you'll be far better off for practicing

Hearing protection w e-kits?
I use either Sennheiser hd280 or Shure s215. Isolation is the name of the game, so you can block the stick sound without having to crank the module volume.

Ex LG owners: What dongle are you using now?

Why are the low frequencies on my bass barely audible through headphones?
I've been using Sennheiser HD280 Pros for the past 15 years (the same pair). They are not that expensive and they're intended for studio use and mixing as their audio signature is fairly flat. They're also used by tons of musicians. Couldn't recommend more.

Looking for an amp, would love some suggestions
For headphones, I'd recommend using studio monitor headphones since you want the most flat eq headphones to actually listen yourself. If on a budget, the Sennheiser hd280 are pretty good choice
