I had three drives go through RMA process with Samsung in 2026. Completely awful experience, most of the process occurs through text messaging. I paid $379 for a 2TB m2 Samsung Pro 980 in 2021, still within 5 year warranty period, after two months of having the drive, they offered me $179. When I as

It’s fair to be out of the loop. If you’re not a big MS shop or heavily into MDM there is a good chance you would never know. I had absolutely no idea about the 980 Pro bug (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-980-pro-ssd-failures-firmware-update) which I was told everyone knew about. I found

You're effectively trying to make an argument about this without providing proper details. So I'll do it for you. Smaller external HDDs that can be powered from a USB port are indeed built worse than larger HDDs which would require an external power supply to turn on (because they demand 12-volt pow

Yes, that can happen. Had a 980 Pro, that showed as healthy in CDI as well, but as it was benchmarking around 400MB/s read, 200MB/s write, it clearly had degraded, so I got it exchanged through the Samsung 5 year full warranty on SSDs.

Gamers are the worst at this too you see someone building a gaming PC... MUST BUY PCI GEN 5 drive with 14,500 write and read when in almost every test there is almost no percitable loading speed diffrence in a game from a gen3 NVME drive to the gen 4 let alone gen 5 007 first light a new next gen ti

Verify RAM pricing first, possibly actually buy modules to lock in whatever cost you're considering as "acceptable". DDR5 5600 SO-DIMMs, when I've looked, are far from being "discounted" when you don't already own them. In that situation - Not already owning RAM/being able to get it (actually) cheap

I have a lot of bluetooth devices and this, perhaps in combination with Home Assistant, was causing bluetoothd to write a lot to the ssd, wearing it out pretty fast, projected use time only a few years. Instead of actually solving it I got a datacenter SSD that survives writes a lot better and moved

Had the same thought. The difference between a SATA SSD and a Samsung 980 Pro in a hunt train in FF14 is stark. But I think MMOs are a bit of an outlier with how hard they hammer the disk.

I don't know about the other apps but fake Samsung SSDs are spreading around Shopee. Most products have reviews but are most probably bots. They even have tagalog reviews.
