Australian able to make suggestions. I use a Kathmandu lite haul for domestic travel but honestly it's not nearly as robust as my Osprey pack. I use my Osprey Porter 46 for overseas travel and just cinch it down small. The trousers you seek might be found at Kathmandu or at Macpac if you want an out

Why not just use a rain cover for the bag to keep it dry? I traveled for six months with an Osprey Porter 46 and just used the corresponding waterproof cover (made by Osprey for that bag) when it rained. Didn’t have any issues.

I'm a pear shaped 148cm (4'10" in imperial terms) person and my two favourite bags are my Osprey Porter 46 for long trips and my Osprey Nebula 32 for shorter trips. Both sit nicely on my big hips and short torso.

Temperature range? Footwear? Layers is the answer. I could pull it off with a 40-45 liter and wearing the boots. A duffel-ish tub like bag like the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46 or a used Porter 46 comes to mind. I travel with a small crossbody as a personal item and that can pick up as much as another 2

Duffels are a problem for air travel carry on for a couple reasons. First of all many have the wrong dimensions with a square cross section and leaving one dimension too big and not fully utilizing the available space for the other. The Aion is a good example at 20.5 x 12.6 x 11.8 in. Compare to the

68F. I tour via Eurail / Interrail yearly and adore it. SECURITY: take a MUCH smaller backpack that can be in the rack overhead (one seat ahead of you so you can see it) or behind your legs when seated. DO NOT put your bag in the car-end luggage area. Repeat after me: DO NOT put your bag in the lugg

The "many people" told you right: it IS "too big to [carry on]," and you absolutely will "end up checking it," no "probably" about it, especially in Europe. For the past 20 years, I've gone on month-long trips to Europe with an Osprey Porter 46 -- but used only ever as a duffel, never on my back, as

Welcome to the world of "what job? I travel indefinitely." Jump on in -- the water's great. I've been traveling extensively/indefinitely for several years now. My old, "soon to be replaced because it is too large" bag is an Osprey Porter 46, which I always cinch down to more like 35-40L. Weight is a

The bag is more like 38.5 liters going by the published dimensions. That’s typical of Cabin Zero in general. How the bag tapers and is divided are big influences in packing efficiency. Hauling a CPU and shoes are really pushing the limits for onebagging. It is a minimalist technique. I would be goin

It all comes down to use. I used to rock a small hard case with two wheels, but switched to an Osprey Porter 46 back in 2017. I use a duffel strap so my back doesn't get sweaty (I hate that). I found that the Osprey was simply more flexible in any climate or situation, and never went back to the rol
